Please Note: Thunder Hole Campsite is not located in/or affiliated with Acadia National Park. Acadia East Campground is a commercial, self-serve, tent campground located outside Acadia National Park.

Named for the one of Acadia’s loudest and most iconic features, the Thunder Hole campsite features an exposed granite landscape surrounded by cedar and hemlock trees. A 2 minute, 200 foot walk from the parking area, this site is ideal for couples, small groups or families seeking a quiet, cozy camping area to smell the evergreen trees and play in the ocean air just a minutes from the crashing waves along Acadia’s Schoodic Peninsula.

This site is located a short distance from the restroom facility, has room for 1-2 small tents, a campfire ring, hammock, and picnic table.

Once you’ve made camp, take a leisurely nature walk around the grounds to identify trees, plants, and animals; or take your kayak, bike, or hiking shoes down the road into Acadia National Park’s Schoodic Woods region. We’re so glad you’re here.
