What an unbelievable fall it’s been for us as we work to open our campground at Acadia National Park. We’re excited to announce that we’ve secured our property on Route 1 in Gouldsboro, right between the two entrances to Acadia’s Schoodic Loop Rd. The land is about 9 acres with 250 feet of road front right on Route 1, so you won’t be able to miss us.
For year one (tentatively set to open on June 1st), we will open 15 campsites that can be booked online and self-checked in. That’s right, your vacation starts right when you arrive and don’t have to wait in line to register in an office. Simply park in our parking area and bring your gear to your site. All trails to campsites, as well as the campsites themselves will be clearly marked with natural-style signage similar to what guests of Acadia National Park are used to seeing.
Each campsite will be named after an iconic figure of Acadia, from Thunderhole to George B. Dorr; and will come equipped with a campfire ring and picnic table. Because our goal is to create a primitive camping experience similar to what you’d expect in the backcountry, our campsites will be more than twice the state minimum, so you can focus on the beauty around you and not what your neighbors are doing.
In the future we will expand the number of sites available on the grounds, but never in a way that interferes with our beliefs of providing a higher quality camping experience for those looking to get away from the noise and chaos of regular life.
It’s been a pleasure working with the Town of Gouldsboro, and getting to speak with so many future campers to learn what it is that makes for the perfect camping trip in their eyes. We’re looking forward to seeing you all beginning June 1st, until then, look for us to start taking online reservations early next year!
Best regards,
Tom and Zach
