Where are the Coffee Shops Near Acadia National Park?

January 4, 2019by Thomas Tash

Acadia National Park is a magical place, full of adventure around every corner. In most cases, however, if you want to enjoy those adventures without the crowds, you’ve got to get up early. And to get up early, you’re probably going to need some caffeinated assistance. So, where are the Coffee Shops near Acadia National Park?

Where are the Coffee Shops Near Acadia National Park?

There are plenty of great places to get a cup of coffee no matter where you’re staying near Acadia National Park.

Coffee Shops near the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park

Young’s Market – Gas Station and Market in Gouldsboro, Maine

If you’re staying at Acadia East Campground near Acadia National Park’s Schoodic Peninsula, then Young’s Market is a great option. Young’s Market is located just 2 miles from the campground and opens at 4am every day (5am on Sundays). Young’s also sells breakfast sandwiches and some grocery goods. Whether you’re looking for a coffee on the drive to catch a sunrise hike in the park, or just need the stuff to make your own campfire breakfast, they’ve got you covered.

J.M. Gerrish Cafe – Coffee Shop and Cafe in Winter Harbor, Maine

Open seasonally, J.M. Gerrish Cafe is located in the heart of Winter Harbor, just a stones throw from the entrance to the Schoodic Section of Acadia National Park, the popular coffee shop and cafe is a great sit down option with outdoor seating on Main St. Consider this stop after you’ve finished hiking for the day. The J.M. Gerrish Cafe Menu is loaded with delicious items from breakfast staples to lobster rolls.

Aroma Joe’s – Coffee Shop in Ellsworth

Aroma Joe’s is a popular Maine-based coffee shop chain. They run a small coffee stand in the large parking lot behind McDonald’s (formerly Coffee Express). A great on-the-go option that opens at 5:15am every day (5:45 on Sunday)

Denny’s – 24-hour Diner in Ellsworth

The classic American chain. Denny’s is the only 24-hour dining option in the greater Acadia National Park region, but it hits the spot when you’re hitting the trails early or getting back late.

Dunkin Donuts – Coffee Shops in Ellsworth

There are currently three Dunkin Donuts in Ellsworth. They all open at 5am every day except for the one inside WalMart which opens at 6am every day.

McDonald’s – Fast Food Coffee and Breakfast in Ellsworth

McDonald’s doesn’t need a lot of explaining. Their website says open 24-hours, which I kind of feel like is either a lie or JUST happened recently. While we were building Acadia East Campground, I’d drive there every morning for a coffee, a breakfast burrito, and their Wi-Fi; and I always had to wait until 5am. So, there’s that.

Coffee Shops in and near Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park

There are a lot of great places to get coffee on Mount Desert Island, mostly from small locally-owned coffee shops. Because there are too many to get into detail with, here’s a list of coffee shops in Bar Harbor

Here’s a list of coffee shops in Southwest Harbor:

There you have it. If you’re not in the mood to make your own coffee over the campfire, these awesome coffee shops in the greater Acadia National Park region have you covered!
