Founded in 1990 as Acadia Brewing, Atlantic Brewing Company is a popular craft brewery near Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. Atlantic Brewing has two locations on MDI, the main brewery on Knox Rd toward the entrance to MDI and the new beautiful Midtown location. In 2008, Atlantic Brewing acquired the only other brewing company on MDI, Bar Harbor Brewing Company. It still brews and sells many of the popular original Acadia National Park-themed recipes including Thunder Hole Ale and Cadillac Mountain Stout. The Town Hill Location is also home to Mainely Meats, where outdoor seating, delicious bbq, and of course, Atlantic Brewing beer is available on tap. The brewery offers free tastings of their beer inside the gift shop, where you’ll also find apparel, gifts, and beer to take with you. NEW in 2024! – Musquito Harbor Brewing Company – Winter Harbor, Maine
We’re very excited to learn that a new brewery is opening just down the road from Acadia East Campground this summer! Musquito (yes, that’s spelled correctly) Harbor Brewing Company is opening just outside the gateway to the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor. The name comes from the original name shown for Winter Harbor on maps from the 1700’s and 1800’s. Strong Brewing is located to the west of Ellsworth in the town of Sedgwick on the Blue Hill Peninsula. Family-owned & operated, Strong Brewing has made quite the name for itself as a consistent brewer of high quality beer in the Maine brewing scene.
