Parking at Jones Pond Recreation Area
When you first arrive at Jones Pond, you’ll turn off Route 195 onto Recreation Road, a short dirt road. You’ll find a small parking area on the left side of the end of the road, across from the boat landing. Be sure to come early on weekend days, as this popular park fills up quickly.
Public Restrooms
If you’re a parent, then Public Restrooms are an absolute MUST, and Jones Pond has you covered. There are men’s and women’s public restrooms located between the parking area and the playground and picnic area.
Picnic Area on the Schoodic Peninsula
Jones Pond Recreation Area is a quiet public park space on the water. With about a half-dozen picnic tables in the shade near the waterfront, this is an ideal place for families to spend a half day picnicking. The picnic area also has a few charcoal grills if you’re in the mood for burgers or hot dogs!
Public Playground
There is a nice little playground in the center of the Jones Pond Recreation Area. With room to run and slide, this is a great place for the little ones to burn some energy while you enjoy a good book.
Public Swimming Area
The calm waters of Jones Pond make it a great place to swim. The public swimming area is “Swim at your own risk,” meaning that there is no lifeguard on duty here. The picnic tables are located nearby so that you can easily monitor those in the pond as well as on the playground.
Public Boat Landing
The majority of traffic through the Jones Pond Rec Area is for the public boat landing. At over 467 acres and 15-48 feet deep, the pond is a desirable boating destination for both locals and visitors. The boat launch itself is a paved, 10 feet wide, 31 feet long, 13 degree, freshwater ramp. There are no floats or fees.
Dog-Friendly Swimming Area
One of the more noteworthy features of Jones Pond is its dog-friendly swimming area. This area to the far left of the park is a great place for tossing a stick, cooling down, or just getting your pup some exercise.
